BCT Expo 2026: Digital Twin Is No Longer the Future of Factories. It's Already Here
BCT Expo 2026, held at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani from 16–18 September 2026, showed us that Thai industry is more ready than ever to move into the digital era. On day 2, VRTwinS was invited to speak on Digital Twin for industry and factories, and on how the technology is being put to work in real operations.
What Is a Digital Twin, and Why Should Factories Care?
A Digital Twin is a virtual replica of a physical space, such as a factory, a warehouse or a production line. It is a 3D model that you can walk through, measure and inspect from anywhere.
Imagine a plant manager "walking" the production line from a Bangkok office while the factory itself sits in Rayong. Or an engineer measuring floor space for new machinery without traveling to the site. Digital Twins make this possible today.
From Technology to Real-World Use
On stage, we shared how Digital Twins are being applied across industrial operations:
Space planning and layout. Measure distances, simulate machine placement and plan renovations accurately before any work begins.
Facility and asset management. Pin equipment locations, machine data and maintenance history in a single model.
Training and safety. Help new staff learn the site, fire exits and hazard zones before they set foot on the floor.
Remote audits and client presentations. Run factory audits or give overseas clients a tour of your production line without them flying in.
The key point is that a Digital Twin is more than a pretty picture. It is a spatial database that every team across the organization can share and use.
Hands-On at the Booth: Matterport Pro 3
Alongside the talk, booths D10 and D12 gave visitors the chance to try the Matterport Pro 3, a 3D capture camera that uses LiDAR (laser-based distance measurement) to record spaces with high precision. It is the starting point of every Digital Twin.
Many visitors watched the whole process, from scanning a space to seeing it turn into a walkable virtual model within moments. Many of them came away realizing that building a Digital Twin is simpler and more accessible than they expected.
